Manglik Dosh

According to the prevalent definition of Manglik Dosh in Indian Astrology, it is said that if Mars is placed in any of the houses 1,2,4,7,8 or 12, in a Horoscope where the rising sign or the Ascendant is taken as the first house, Manglik Dosh is said to be formed in that horoscope. This Dosh is usually said to delay the marriage of the affected person and create disturbances even after marriage or in the worst cases it may cause the death of the spouse. And it is advised by some astrologers that a person having a Manglik Dosh in his or her horoscope should only marry a person who also has Manglik Dosh in his or her horoscope. According to these astrologers, the bad effects of Manglik Dosh present in a horoscope are reduced or even canceled if the person marrying the first person is also having Manglik Dosh in his or her horoscope. As we now know the basic definition of Manglik Dosh, so let’s analyze it further. And for the convenience of foreign readers I would like to mention that any person suffering from Manglik Dosh is called a Manglik. So when someone says “I’m a Manglik”, it simply means that they have Manglik Dosh in their horoscope or at least they’ve been told so. Now let’s move further.

Manglik dosh is undoubtedly the most feared concept of Vedic Jyotish when it comes to marriage and married life of the native and the formation of Manglik dosh in a horoscope can create serious or very serious problems in the married life of the native suffering from this dosh. According to the prevalent definition of Manglik dosh, it is said that if Mars is placed in any one of the houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 or 12 of a horoscope, Manglik dosh is formed in such horoscope which can pose various kinds of troubles in the marriage and married life of the native suffering from this dosh. The actual formation of Manglik dosh however requires additional conditions to be met in a horoscope and these conditions as well as the malefic effects of Manglik dosh formed in a horoscope have been discussed in details through many articles published in this section of the website. Some astrologers believe that going to Trayambakeshwar temple of Lord Shiva in Nasik or Ujjain and performing a short pooja there can rectify this dosh but when Manglik dosh is actually formed in a horoscope, many different kinds of astrological remedies may be required to rectify or pacify this dosh in the horoscope and though these remedies may be different from horoscope to horoscope but generally a Manglik Dosh nivaran pooja which is also called Mangal dosh nivaran puja is one remedy which is suitable in most of the cases of this dosh. In todays article, we will discuss about some of the important steps involved in Manglik dosh nivaran pooja.

The most important step in performing any kind of pooja to rectify any dosh in a horoscope is to perform the chant of a Mantra specified to reduce the strength of that dosh and this chant amounts to a number of 125,000 in most of the cases. Manglik dosh is a defect which is formed due to malefic Mars in a horoscope, so accordingly we will need to pacify Mars by means of pooja so that the malefic effects of Mars may be reduced in the horoscope which reduces the strength of Manglik dosh in the horoscope. Hence a Manglik dosh nivaran puja should include a chant of 125,000 Mars veda mantra which serves as Manglik dosh nivaran mantra for the sake for this pooja, and rest of the procedure is built around this chant. To start with Manglik dosh nivaran puja, a specific day is chosen for the start and completion of this pooja which is decided according to the horoscope of the native. At the day of starting of this puja, a Sankalpam or resolution is taken by the Pandits which are usually 5 to 7 in number. In this Sankalpam, the head Pandit or the main Pandit takes an oath in front of Lord Shiva that he and his other assistant Pandits are going to perform a chant of 125,000 Manglik dosh nivaran mantras for a specific person who is the native and whose name, his fathers name and his family surname is also mentioned in Sankalpam. The names of the Pandits doing this chant are also mentioned, the days taken to complete this chant are also mentioned which are generally 5 to 7 days for this pooja, and the specific wishes required by the native as a result of this pooja are also mentioned and this is the first step which starts a Manglik dosh nivaran puja. The specific benefic results asked by Pandits on behalf of the native in this case are to rectify the ill effects of Manglik dosh in the horoscope of the native and to bless the native with a happy and prosperous married life.
